December is always an exciting month with the holidays. This December be prepared for even more excitement. If you enjoy films, this is going to be a good month for you. There are some really good choices coming to the big screen this month.
“The Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader”
I have loved the Narnia books, by C.S. Lewis, ever since I first read them as a kid. They have stood the test of time and I still love them as an adult who has reread them multiple times. Although I don’t always like movie adaptations of books, but I really enjoyed the first two “Chronicles of Narnia” films. They stayed true to the books, yet were beautifully adapted to film.
Although “The Voyage of the Dawn Treader” isn’t my favorite of the Narnia series, I am still very excited for this film. I anticipate another great instalment of this series. Also, this time it’s Narnia as you’ve never seen it before–in 3D.
“The Tourist”
How could anyone not be excited about a film starring Angeline Jolie and Johnny Depp? To make it even more exciting, the movie was shot in beautiful Venice and makes use of the fantastic setting. This looks like a fast-paced drama as nothing is what it seems and danger seems to be around every corner for newly acquainted Frank (Depp) and Elise (Jolie). This looks great, so I just hope it lives up to my admittedly high expectations.
“Little Fockers”
“Little Fockers” is the sequel to popular comedies “Meet the Parents” and “Meet the Fockers”. All of your favorites are back with a cast including Robert DeNiro, Ben Stiller, Own Wilson, Barbra Streisand, Dustin Hoffman, and other big name actors and actresses. In this return to the battle between Byrnes (DeNiro) and Focker (Stiller), years have passed. The Fockers are still happily married and now have kids. This movie depicts the hilarity of the grandparents visiting for the holidays.
My verdict? If you liked the first two movies, you’ll laugh at “Meet the Fockers” too.
“Gulliver’s Travels”
If you think you know the story of “Gulliver’s Travels”, get ready for this story as you’ve never seen it before. Jack Black stars as Gulliver, a mailroom clerk, loser, and nice guy with big dreams. Through a twist of events he finds himself in Lilliput, where he is a giant compared to the tiny natives. He quickly takes advantage of the situation and creates a new story for himself. Expect, of course, for him to learn about himself, life, etc. along the way.
“Gulliver’s Travels” combines a classic tale and Jack Black’s own brand of comedy. Is it going to be entertaining? You better believe it.
Other movies scheduled for release in December 2010 include: Asian action/adventure “The Warrior’s Way”,”The Fighter” (starring Mark Wahlberg, Christian Bale, and Amy Adams in a true story about the world champion boxer “Irish” Mickey Ward), “Tron: The Legacy”(sequel to the ’80′s movie “Tron”), “Yogi Bear”(based on the famous cartoon bear, obviously), “Country Strong”(country movie starring Gwyneth Paltrow and Tim McGraw) and “True Grit”(Jeff Bridges and Matt Damon star in this remake of the classic Western; the Coen brothers made this, so it will be noteworthy).
